Environmental Sins || 7 Deadly Sins of the EnvironmentšŸŽÆ

The environment is a topic that can be hard to talk about. But itā€™s important because the planet we live on has been here for much longer than any of us have. And if we donā€™t take care of it, no one else will!

There are many mistakes out there that hurt the environment in some way or another. Some are small and easily fixed while others can cause massive disasters like oil spills and natural disasters.

In this blog post, weā€™re going to discuss seven deadly sins of the environment so you know what not to do when you want to protect our earth!

Deforestation

This happens when people cut down trees to build homes and businesses or clear land for agricultural use. It sounds harmless, but this action releases tons of COĀ² into the atmosphere which contributes to global warming!

Itā€™s easy for us not to think about these problems because it doesnā€™t affect usā€¦..yet.

Pay attention to whatā€™s happening around you and care about your environment so that we can all live a healthy life!

Pollution

Pollution can happen in many different ways like dumping trash onto the ground or dumping chemical substances into rivers and streams.

Pollution is like a silent killer.

It doesnā€™t cause any symptoms until years later when you find out that your water supply has become contaminated by chemicals!

Itā€™s no secret that air quality is an issue. But it might surprise you to learn just how much damage pollution does every year.

The World Health Organization estimates that seven million people worldwide die each year as a result of dirty air, with another 25% more deaths connected to polluted water sources.

Not only are these environmental hazards responsible for premature death rates. They also lead to various other health problems like cancer or asthma attacks ā€“ not mention long-term illnesses such as heart disease or diabetes.

If we want our planet's population healthy enough for a sustainable future, we need to stop ignoring air quality issues.

Global warming

This happens when thereā€™s an increase in the Earthā€™s temperature. This is a result of greenhouse gases like COĀ² being released into the atmosphere because of deforestation and pollution!

On a global scale, the single most destructive environmental issue is energy consumption. Specifically from burning fossil fuels like coal and oil for fuel or as raw materials in manufacturing processes.

The CO emissions released by these burnings are some of the worst pollutants out there because theyā€™re not only toxic but also long-lasting (they stay in our atmosphere for centuries).

If people want to avoid breathing cancerous chemicals into their lungs every day then we have no choice but to finally make good on that ā€œenergy transitionā€ everyone talks about.

Oil Spill

The fourth sin you may have heard about before is an oil spill, which can happen when thereā€™s a discharge or leak from an oil tanker or pipeline.

Oil spills are extremely damaging as they pollute the water and get caught in things like wildlifeā€™s fur.

Improper Waste Disposal

The fifth sin of our seven deadly sins is improper waste disposal. This happens when people dump trash into rivers or streams, so it can pollute the environment that way!

Improper waste disposal also includes littering which means throwing your garbage onto the ground instead of putting it in a trash can.

When we contaminate our land by not disposing of hazardous chemicals and trash properly it can seep into groundwater.

When this happens, toxins end up in drinking water leading to diseases like leukemia, lymphoma and other cancers that will stay with you for a lifetime.

Recycling is important to the environment because it reduces our use of raw materials, saves energy and protects wildlife.

I encourage you to make recycling a part of your everyday routine!

Biodiversity

The sixth deadly sin is the loss of biodiversity, which happens when we donā€™t protect animal populations and allow them to decline.

Biodiversity helps many living organisms thrive as it provides food for all creatures that exist on Earth!

Habitat Destruction

And last but not least, thereā€™s habitat destruction which includes things like deforestation and pollution.

We need to make sure weā€™re taking care of our environment so that it can sustain all the life on Earth for many years to come!
